Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the second high-level meeting with Secretaries to the Government of India, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening governance, promoting technological self-reliance, and ensuring coordinated policymaking. The meeting brought together senior officials from key ministries, including Finance, Commerce and Industry, Technology, and the Prime Minister’s Office, to review progress and align priorities for India’s long-term development. The discussions revolved around the Viksit Bharat agenda, which remains central to the government’s vision of transforming India into a developed nation.
Strengthening Coordination Across Ministries
Collaboration between government ministries is one of the main issues that were discussed at the meeting. According to Mr. Modi, there is a need for ministries to act like institutions that are connected and not operate independently. Therefore, there is a need for the ministers to break down administrative silos and take an integrative approach in decision-making.
The Prime Minister noted that achieving the Viksit Bharat agenda requires seamless coordination between ministries, allowing policies to complement one another while improving governance at every level.
Citizen-Centric Governance Takes Priority
Modi PM stressed again that governance should be about making life better for citizens. He asked government ministries to judge the success of their policies not only based on how the policies were implemented but also on how they affected people’s lives.
The Prime Minister emphasized that every reform should simplify public services, improve accessibility, and increase administrative efficiency. According to him, placing citizens at the centre of policymaking is essential for successfully advancing the Viksit Bharat agenda.
Focus on Technology and Innovation
Technology was yet another important topic of discussion. Even while appreciating the technological advances being made in the country, PM Modi insisted on increased spending on domestic innovation and research. It is important to gain domestic technological knowledge in order to minimize dependency and be strong in the emerging sectors.
Officials were asked to encourage innovative sectors but at the same time build technological strength in the long run. “Building innovation ecosystems will be an important pillar of Viksit Bharat agenda,” PM Modi said.
Energy Security and Cyber Resilience
It is pertinent to note that India’s energy requirements for the future were also discussed in the meeting. PM Modi highlighted energy security as a priority for the nation and urged the relevant ministries to hasten their initiatives towards diversification and sustainable energy. The area of cybersecurity also came under the limelight at the meeting, with the Prime Minister highlighting the need for including young innovators in India’s cybersecurity system.

According to PM Modi, the concept of governance needs to keep on evolving to be able to adapt to the changing times in terms of economics and technology.
