L’Oreal Beauty Tech hub Announces Major ₹35 Billion Investment | Business Minds Media India

French cosmetics major L’Oréal on Wednesday announced plans to establish a L’Oreal beauty tech hub in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, marking one of its largest technology-focused investments in the country. The company said it would invest more than 35 billion rupees ($383.4 million) in the new hub, reinforcing India’s growing role in L’Oréal’s global innovation ecosystem.

The announcement underscores the multinational’s strategy to combine beauty, technology, and artificial intelligence at scale, while tapping into India’s expanding talent pool and digital infrastructure.

A Global Base for AI-Driven Beauty Innovation

According to the company, the L’Oreal beauty tech hub will serve as a global base for artificial intelligence–driven beauty innovation. It is expected to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced AI-powered beauty solutions across L’Oréal’s worldwide brands and markets.

By 2030, the hub is also expected to create about 2,000 tech jobs in fields like AI research, data science, digital product development, and beauty technology engineering. L’Oréal said that the facility would be very important for speeding up the process of coming up with new ideas and making beauty products and services more personalized.

Analysts in the industry see the move as a way for L’Oréal to use AI more in all of its operations, from making products and letting customers try them on virtually to diagnosing customers and improving the supply chain.

Partnership Sealed at Davos

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal, met with officials from the Telangana government, the partnership was made official.

Telangana has quickly become a major place for global technology and innovation investments. This is thanks to proactive state policies, a strong startup ecosystem, and a growing number of multinational R&D centers. Hyderabad, in particular, has become a center for digital services, AI, and pharmaceuticals.

State officials said that the project fits with Telangana’s long-term goal of becoming a global center for innovation and creating high-quality jobs.

India’s Rising Role in Global Tech Strategy

The establishment of the L’Oreal beauty tech hub highlights India’s rising importance in multinational corporate strategies, particularly in technology-led transformation. With a large base of skilled engineers and one of the world’s fastest-growing digital consumer markets, India is increasingly being chosen not just for back-office operations but for core innovation functions.

L’Oréal is already a big player in India through its research, manufacturing, and distribution activities. The new hub shows that India is moving toward higher-value technology work. This means that India will be more involved in developing products and platforms around the world instead of just supporting them in the region.

Strengthening India–France Economic Ties

The announcement comes at a time when India’s and France’s economic and diplomatic ties are getting stronger. In 2024, trade between the two countries was about $15 billion. This was due to steady growth in many areas, including defense, aerospace, energy, and consumer goods.

In recent years, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron have worked together more closely through strategic talks and investment partnerships. Since 2024, the two governments have also been working to update their bilateral tax treaty so that it meets global standards for cross-border investment and tax transparency.

Observers say such policy alignment provides greater certainty for multinational companies planning long-term investments like the L’Oreal beauty tech hub.

A Signal to Global Investors

L’Oréal’s decision to put a lot of money into Hyderabad sends a message to investors around the world that India is a good place for projects that involve advanced technology and new ideas. Companies are looking for places that have a lot of talent, a lot of people, and stable policies as AI becomes more important for engaging customers and setting products apart

With the launch of the L’Oreal beauty tech hub, India strengthens its position not only as a manufacturing or consumer market, but as a global nerve center for next-generation beauty and technology innovation.
