Infosys has launched a new facility in Hubballi specializing in AI, cyber security, and space technology.

The facility already has more than 1,000 specialists and caters to global customers in core businesses.

The facility was welcomed by Karnataka ministers as a stimulus for the state’s technological growth.

Key Background :

Infosys’ move to locate an advanced technology hub in Hubballi is a step in line with the company’s general trends of embracing new-gen economy cities. The Tier-2 cities are being fast-developed as technology hubs of tomorrow, and Infosys’ shift to Hubballi is part of this broader tendency. Infosys’ 58-acre campus at Hubballi, which earlier had been criticized for lying idle, has now become a key component of Infosys’ AI-first strategy. Infosys’ Living Labs community for collaborative innovation, speed prototyping, and digital transformation now includes the center.

The hub will be a key part of delivering high-value digital solutions in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and even space technology a lofty reach that reflects the increasing importance of cross-disciplinary digital solutions. It will be serving customers from industries like healthcare, finance, retail, and manufacturing, reflecting the company’s focus on developing customized, scalable, and secure digital solutions.

With more than 1,000 professionals already in its roll, the Hubballi centre also reflects Infosys’ focus on building regional talent pools. The company has recently made nearly 600 placement offers to local students of engineering and deepened collaborations with institutions like IIIT Dharwad and KLE Technological University. All this is part of a larger trend of IT majors investing in local capacity-building in a bid to end dependence on urban clusters such as Bengaluru.

Karnataka state government is very keen about the success of this project. During the inauguration ceremony, Industries Minister M. B. Patil made a mention of how projects like these directly give employment and foster entrepreneurship for the state. IT & BT Minister Priyank Kharge shed light on the importance of Infosys’ Living Labs model and how it places Hubballi as a fast-emerging innovation hub for the state.

The growth is also seen as Infosys’ response to past criticism in the state legislature for North Karnataka underperformance. Maximizing campus utilization and fulfilling promises of employment and innovation, the company is reasserting itself as a socially responsible corporate leader dedicated to balanced regional growth.

The alignment of the center with Infosys’ cloud-first, AI-first strategy also reflects its significance to Infosys’ future direction. Leverage its own platforms such as Infosys Topaz and Cobalt, the Hubballi center will support transformation initiatives, facilitate quick co-creation, and provide clients future-ready, AI-enhanced solutions along with fostering the local economy’s growth and establishing India as a global technology leader.
